Jenè Palmer CA(SA) (Chief Financial Officer)
Jenè is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and who has garnered a wealth of experience over the last two decades in the corporate environment including leading a JSE-listed ICT company as its CEO and returning the company to profitability. She geared the company for an acquisition in order to achieve the goal of turning it into a Billion Rand organisation. Jenè’s passion is rooted in assisting companies to reach their full potential and overcome the challenges posed by an economic downturn, weak strategic direction, operational inefficiencies or financial distress. She has practical experience in implementing business rescue and attributes her success in this area to her keen appreciation for strategy, as well as open and honest communication with all stakeholders involved in the process.
Jenè’s areas of expertise are leadership, strategy development, financial management and business optimisation. She was selected as Finalist in the BWASA Business Woman of the Year 2008 and Finalist in CSSA IT Personality of the Year 2010.
Paul Aucamp (Lead Consultant: Strategic Governance)
Paul Aucamp is a Lead Consultant within CGF, and is well known for his strategic leadership roles he has played in Banking, Life Assurance, Process and Discrete Manufacturing, Information and Communications Technology, Media and Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Mining, Postal Services, Construction, Transport and Logistics, Retail, Agriculture, Professional Services, Petro-chemical and Utility Services sectors. For a major part of his career, Paul has been in management consulting (since 1987). In this period, he has fulfilled leadership positions at Deloitte & Touche, IBM Consulting Group and Bentley West Management Consultants (the latter two firms were both founded and led by him). Apart from his consulting career, he has also held other line management positions - either as executive director or turnaround CEO. He has served on the EXCO’s of two listed companies and has been a member of a number of Boards. Paul has served many organisations with distinction and is a sought after strategic facilitator. Paul has the following qualifications: M Comm (PU) cum laude, MBA (Vlerick) cum laude, executive development programme (INSEAD, Fontainebleau, Paris & IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland).
Lucien Caron (Lead Consultant: Company Secretariat & Legal)
Lucien is a Lead Consultant, where he focusses predominantly upon the company secretariat, regulatory and compliance areas. During the last 12 years, he has gained extensive experience in company secretarial and corporate governance matters in both unlisted and listed companies. This includes support to the board of directors and committees, corporate governance and board advisory functions, board effectiveness evaluations, director training and orientation. He has also gained extensive experience in the fields of regulatory compliance and affairs, legal drafting and opinions, risk management, annual reports, group insurance portfolios, cover limits and exclusions and renewal processes. Lucien has the following qualifications: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws; Advanced Diploma in Company Law and is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. After being admitted to practice in the High Court of South Africa, Lucien specialised in commercial law and commercial litigation for a number of years.
Dr Dicky Els (Lead Consultant: Group Wellness Strategy)
Dr Dicky Els is a Lead Consultant within CGF who specialises in Workplace Wellness and focusses predominantly on strategy development, programme design and effective implementation of outcome-based health promotion programmes. As a business executive and registered industrial psychologist, Dicky’s passion vests in the optimisation of human capital and business performance. During the last two decades he has gained extensive experience in human resource management, change management and employee wellness. Dicky is a dynamic and innovative individual who was key to the successful development of several sustainable employee wellness programmes in the banking, insurance, motor manufacturing, education and telecommunications industry. Dicky also mentors and coaches successful employee wellness managers on global best practices and behaviour based wellness trends that deliver measurable and quantifiable business results. His popular behaviour based books Wellness: A Pig`s Life and Be Well Brother educate and entertain readers about lifestyle related disease, wellness and quality of life. Dicky regularly publishes articles in scientific and other popular journals and has appeared on several radio talk shows.
Dicky has attended numerous Workplace Wellness programmes in the United States of America, and has attained his D.Phil (University of Johannesburg:2005) with a thesis in Developing a holistic workplace wellness model; M. A. Industrial Psychology (Potchefstroom University: 1999) with a thesis in Evaluation of a training programme that stimulate Locus of Control; B.A. Industrial Psychology (Hon.) (Potchefstroom University: 1994).
Dawn Pretorius (Lead Consultant: GRC Business Training & Development)
Dawn is a Lead Consultant within CGF and her experience and skills center mainly around four areas, namely: Governance, Risk Management and Compliance; Estate and Wealth Planning; Strategic Planning and Project Management; Business Development and Communications. Dawn applies her vast experience to assist companies set up and manage their compliance infrastructure, including a risk management methodology which are vital components for building a culture of corporate governance. She is highly proficient in designing, developing and facilitating course content on these subjects, incorporating various acts such as the Companies Act, FAIS and FICA which are natural progression of this role.
Dawn has a strong fiduciary background covering inter alia the management of intervivos and will trusts, assets on behalf of clients, estate planning, liquidation of estates and wealth management. Furthermore, her experience in Organisational Development has been instrumental in strategy design and implementation, where she has managed many large projects covering the integration of business units, value activity analyses, governance among wealth product providers, fee structures, incentive policies, private banking and global banking.
Dawn has a M.Com, B.Tech Banking, FIB (SA), MAP (Wits Business School) amongst other academic credentials in her illustrious banking career. She is a professional member of the Compliance Institute of South Africa, and her services are accredited with the Financial Services Board; she has delivered a number of papers at conferences and workshops.
Melanie Bosman CA(SA) (Lead Consultant: Audit, Accounting & Risk Management)
Melanie is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and has been a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1996. She specialises in audit, accounting and risk management. She started her career at KPMG Inc. where she was a member of the Financial Services team. She was appointed as a director of KPMG in 2000 and was the lead audit engagement partner for a number of prominent companies in the financial services industry, including Mutual & Federal Insurance Company and Munich Re of Africa.
Melanie resigned from KPMG in 2004 and set up a consulting and audit practice. She initially performed external audits to smaller companies but later focused only on consulting to companies in the financial services industry, notably short-term and life insurance companies. Her areas of expertise include audit and accounting as well as the regulatory and risk management issues faced by financial services companies. Melanie has four years of practical boardroom experience and is a board member and member of the audit committees of two companies. She previously also served as an audit committee chairperson and provides internal audit services to a small listed entity. Melanie is a Lead Consultant within CGF.
Petra Booysen (Financial Administrator)
Petra Booysen is our financial manager and administrator where she fulfills the role of managing CGF’s accounts, including back office support and administration. Prior to joining CGF in March 2004, Petra was a Financial Officer at Nedbank, covering the financial accounts for the bank’s Technology & Operations division. Over the periods 1994 - 2002, Petra fulfilled the functions of Assistant Accountant and then Accountant for Gaertner, an export/import company in Cape Town. Petra holds a BComm in accountancy obtained from the University of Pretoria and a BCompt(Hons) from UNISA. She is fluent in English, Afrikaans and German.
DR JANINE JOUBERT (LEAD CONSULTANT: RISK MANAGEMENT, COMPLIANCE & GOVERNANCE)
Janine is an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) expert with over 20 years experience in IT and Telecommunications. She has extensive practical experience in ERM, operational and strategic risk management, information Governance, Compliance, Fraud Management, Revenue Assurance and ICT project management. She has implemented innovative risk management solutions across various functional disciplines to reduce risks in new product and service development, portfolio management, business model design, business processes, privacy, stakeholder communications, financial services and marketing.
Her passion lies in pioneering risk management solutions that inspire trust, deliver value, exceed stakeholder expectations and providing innovative solutions to reduce risk. She strongly believes that effective risk management, governance and compliance can deliver competitive advantages for any organisation.
Janine has a slew of qualifications and awards to her credit. She completed her BCom Honours degree cum laude in Information Systems at UCT, followed by an MCom, also cum laude. Additionally, she is on almost completed with her PhD in Risk Management and Innovation. The most recent recognition for her talents came when she won the IRMSA Risk Manager of the Year award, IRMSA Communication and Technology Risk Industry award and Vodacom CEO award in 2014. She has published research and presented papers at numerous national and international conferences on delivering risk interventions for risk management, fraud, mobile security and revenue assurance.
She believes that her experience from successfully deploying risk management projects in South Africa and internationally, can be beneficial to improve business practices and ultimately deliver an enhanced stakeholder and customer experience.
DEBBIE SINCLAIR (LEAD CONSULTANT: MINUTE TAKING & LEGAL DRAFTING)
Debbie Sinclair is a Lead Consultant with CGF and has a diverse background that spans both the legal and publication sectors. As such, she is able to offer clients assistance with a wide variety of services, including legal drafting; report and article writing and editing; minute taking; scribing; legal research; and the crafting of public announcements and internal broadcasts and newsletters, all within the context of good corporate governance. Debbie also has a fine skill of taking minutes at disciplinary hearings. Debbie graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BA.LLB degree and began her career at a blue-chip law firm in Gauteng. She was admitted as an attorney in 2004.
JULIAN DE LA HUNT (LEAD CONSULTANT: HR SPECIALIST)
Julian has many years of Human Resource (HR) experience; where he has applied his consulting skill set at the executive HR management levels with some of the largest local and international companies including, University of Pretoria, Kumba Resources, King Price Insurance, Nissan SA, Ticor, Standard Bank, Basil Read, TWP Projects, WorleyParsons Engineering, Compensation Technologies, Deutsche Bank (New York / Singapore / London) and the SABC.
After qualifying from the University of Pretoria with a Commercial Honours degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Julian specialised in Performance Management, Job Profiling and evaluation, Organisational Design and effectiveness, motivation and strategy.
After leaving the world of consulting, he then moved into the corporate environment where he worked for large blue-chip organisations in mining, construction, banking, automobile, engineering consultancies and higher education. Julian was one of the youngest HR Executives in South Africa, heading up the Human Resources department for a total staff compliment of 2300 in an Engineering EPCM business in Gauteng.
During the last 15 years, Julian has gained extensive experience in people management, organisational effectiveness, performance management, industrial relations, strategy, employee engagement and wellness, organisational dynamics and performance psychology, retention, engagement and motivation. Julian also has extensive experience in the fields of behavioural change, change management, leadership and psychometrics (particular reference to the Activity Vector Analysis behavioral assessment) of which he is currently the sole certified analyst in Africa.
Julian has a BCom (Honours), NGLP and PMD (Gordon Institute of Business Science), HPCSA accredited and COMENSA member, Certified AVA Analyst through Bizet Human Asset Management.
GERHARD BARNARD CA(SA) (LEAD CONSULTANT: RISK, AUDIT & SHEQ)
Gerhard is a is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and Lead Consultant in CGF and who has garnered a wealth of experience over the last three decades; from Board-level strategic insight to entrenched operational functions, both locally and internationally. His expertise is underpinned by being multi-skilled, furthermore adopting a cross-enterprise approach to the projects he works on. Accordingly, Gerhard is able to quickly identify and assess gaps in the financial functions of an entity, thereby implementing the correct measures to limit unwanted exposure to enterprise and governance risks.
Gerhard spent nine years as CFO in a well-known SHEQ (safety, health, environmental & quality) company, but since 2010 he has consulted independently for various companies, including opencast mining in South Africa, Mozambique and Namibia. He has also gained extensive experience in Local Government over the last 24 months in the area of data analytics and data cleansing (i.e. revenue, supply chain management and payroll), IT General Control Review and VAT Reviews. Gerhard is a hands on person with a deep understanding of the workings of an organisation, ranging from source entries of financial statements to board level functions and everything in between.
BEVERLEY ANDERSON (LEAD CONSULTANT: MINUTE TAKING & CIPC SERVICES)
Beverley Anderson is a Lead Consultant for CGF and for the past 16 years, she has been involved with various key aspects of company secretarial services, including, but not limited to, board meeting administration and preparation, minute-taking, scribing, transcription, post-meeting administration. Beverley has also been involved with CIPC statutory which includes maintaining company statutory records, submission and amendment of existing statutory records, name reservations and registration of new companies. Beverley has also been involved with the management of the completion and submission of company statutory annual returns. Beverley has been in the company secretariat field at Barclays Africa (previously ABSA) for 14 years before joining CGF as an Independent Consultant in the Company Secretariat division.
